*update*

Talked with Glock Training, I guess this guy is in a different part of Glock for sales. Glock has a zero tolerance, so guessing that means he is not going to be working there anymore. The major thing I hope that comes out of this is that they learn from this, it could have been a lot worse than it was.

The police have found the bullet, and I am hoping I can get it to make a keychain with :)

*end update*

So there I am lying in bed at a hotel in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, when I hear a loud pop.

I am a little confused at first trying to figure out what the hell that was. I get up and see debris all over the place and it is the color of the carpet. I look around and see two holes in the floor(I was on bottom floor, so concrete under carpeting).

Kinja'd!!!

I then see drywall all over the place near the holes in the floor. I look at the wall and see a hole.

Kinja'd!!!

I put the angles together, and look at the area where I was in bed.

Kinja'd!!!

My head was below that resting spot for the bullet by about a foot.

The guy never came over to the room knocking to see if anyone was hurt. Cops were called and he was taken away.

The cops told me he is a Glock representative. Not sure how long he will be after this incident.

Picture of my Dad’s and my 1968 Plymouth GTX restoration in progress for your time.

Cops said that he was cleaning it or disassembling it and it went off. Pretty sure when I put my guns away or clean them, the first thing I do is check the breach. Whether I think it’s empty or not.

Wow. Glad yr ok.

Not trying to start a gun debate, but why would he have a gun loaded and ready to go in a hotel room? I understand that all manner of dumbasses and criminals walk around with loaded, chambered guns all day long, but this guy should know better. Guns are one of those things that if you are going to have them, you have to be on point 100% of the time. And it’s not that hard to do. You only have to do a few things to not have an accident, but you have to do them 100% of the time.

For the record, in case you are wondering, i’m in favor of draconian gun laws as well as reasonable and responsible gun ownership. In fact, I just went to the gun range last week and shot for the first time in at least 20 years. We followed the rules and had a great time. In fact, I friggin’ killed it right out of the gate, grouped my first clip all dead center. Good times. Anywho, if yr reading this, congrats for making it through all the s.

the only gun ill own withoutthe traditional toggle safety is the colt mark IV. it has a safety built in the the back of the grip that must be squeezed in order to fire. the glock system will allow the weapon to fire if anything gets caught in the trigger guard where the coly system you must be firmly holding the grip. also +1 on the locks. all of my firearms are in locked boxes and my rifles have the bolts removed.

With a Glock you have to point the muzzle in a safe direction and pull the trigger to release the pin during disassembly. A lot of people count that as a downside to the Glock design and others like it.

That too, but don’t you think its kind of misleading? Not to rag on glocks (plenty of benifits, not my taste) but it is advertised as an idiot proof gun. No saftey, nothing to stop the gun from being ready. At the same time, they say it will never go off unless you intend it to. This happened. Modern handguns like to use a trigger safety that is basically a lifted “button” on the actual trigger, with the thought that it prevents all but deliberate trigger pulls. However, near any contact with the trigger deactivates it, whether intentional or not. Furthermore for DA handguns, if the hammer is cocked a lot less trigger pressure is needed to fire. Hammerless guns like Glocks don’t give a nice visual indication that the hammer is cocked like a 1911 or Beretta 92 does. Sure there’s a indicator dot, but you need to look for it. A lot of personal defense people think these safeties are best because you don’t need to deal with a manual safety before firing, but that’s the whole problem. The gun is deciding when it is or isn’t safe, not the shooter.
